Working principally for The Herald Scotland, The National, The Sunday Herald and BBC Radio Scotland, my key areas of speciality are sporting-celebrity interviews, reportage, human interest stories within the world of sport and commenting upon and responding to high-profile sporting events. My many personal contacts among my sporting peers have proved to be particularly useful in these respects.
My weekly column in The Herald Sport – “Susan Egelstaff on Friday” best reflects my views, comment and opinion on sporting news.
As a former member of the Athletes’ Advisory Committee for the 2014 Commonwealth Games and current member of the Champions for Schools programme, I give regular talks to adult leisure groups and school-children on key lifestyle and sport-related issues such as diet, fitness and motivation.
Additionally, I explain my own techniques for turning the inevitable sporting set-backs and disappointments into positive emotions, and highlight the many happy experiences that I have been privileged to enjoy as a Scottish Olympic singles badminton player.
